iPhone. Who doesn’t have one these days. I think it one of the greatest gift to mankind since the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper album. Which of course, you can listen to on your iphone. The best thing that makes the iphone or any other phone unique today is their use of apps. And yes, there are literally apps for about just anything. Recently, I’ve stumble upon a cool app for food lovers, Jamie Oliver’s 20 min meals. It’s a cool and clever cooking application with very nice interfaces. Additionally, it has step by step picture instructions, videos, ingredients, equipments, and best of all…an interactive shareable shopping list. There’s about 50 recipes which gets regular updates along with tips, feedbacks, and notes. You can also set the measurements to your respective country system!
The price for the app is £4.99 with an 99 mb download. Available from iTunes.
Other cool food apps:
UrbanSpoon (free) – A fun app if you’re close to a city. It’s not as limited as the LocalEats app (above), but you’re not going to find anything nearby if you’re more than 20 miles from a city. It’s a slot machine application that lets you pick how much you want to spend or what kind of meal you want to eat. You shake the iPhone and it gives you a list of results within the categories you selected.
Localeats (£.059) – Eat where the locals eat. With ratings and inputs from people that lives in that area. The interface is simple too; you can view the best places either near your current location or near an address you input, or you can view the top 100 lists alphabetically by city. An individual entry includes an address and phone number, along with price and category information.
Toptable (free) - lets people find and book restaurants while on the move. They can choose to see all offers nearby on a handy map or search for and book venues anywhere, anytime. It also features an innovative ‘augmented reality’ element that uses the iPhone’s GPS and compass to allow users to actually see where the nearby restaurants are, how near and in which direction.
